Discipline deals with quantum physics- the science that allowed us to travel to the moon in 1969- is currently grappling with idea that space and time can be transcended. At the dawn of the twenty-first century, humanity is conditioned to look at world events- a historic election or the closing number on the Dow Jones or an act of terrorism- as incidents that have a cause and effect. We are seeing these events up close, like the view of a Matisse painting five inches from the canvas. Twenty-first century quantum physics is developing ways for us see the painting for what it is- the view from across the gallery, where the meaning and beauty in the picture become abundantly clear.
